AUDITION NOTICE

World Premiere of THE HENRY CLYDE CANNING MURDER HOUSE

Written by Christian Missonak | Produced by Theatricus | Directed by James Castle Stevens

Theatricus is seeking actors for the World Premiere production of The Henry Clyde Canning Murder House by Christian Missonak, the First Place winner of the VOX NOVA Playwright Festival. This new work will run June 5–21, 2026 at Moving Arts Theatre in Atwater Village.

About the Play

The Henry Clyde Canning Murder House is a dark, psychologically intense drama.

Years after Henry Canning is convicted for the murder of sixteen women, his now-grown children Elise and Harry have taken very different paths. Elise has moved on—but not away—remaining on the infamous family property and running it as an archery school. Harry, meanwhile, has made a living exploiting his father’s notoriety through true crime podcasts and documentary appearances.

When Harry returns home with plans to convert the property into a murder house tourist attraction, both siblings are forced to confront buried family secrets and the complicated legacy of their father’s crimes in order to escape his long-reaching shadow.

Roles

(All roles open)

HARRY – early to mid-40s
The only son and namesake of an infamous serial killer. Glib, cynical, and opportunistic, Harry often presents as amoral—but beneath the bravado lies someone who feels deeply and is reluctant to show vulnerability.

ELISE – mid to late 30s
Harry’s younger sister and a former Olympian. Tough, acerbic, and embittered, Elise’s sharp humor masks a powerful sense of justice that borders on moral superiority.

LUKA – mid to late 30s
Elise’s partner in life and business, and a fellow former Olympian. Born and raised in Croatia, he speaks with a somewhat thick accent. A devout Catholic, Luka is moral, gentle, tolerant, friendly, and fiercely loyal to Elise.

VERA – early 30s
Harry’s business partner and occasional romantic partner. Once a rising TV production talent who has abruptly fallen out of the industry, Vera initially appears chatty and awkward, but reveals herself to be perceptive, incisive, and morally ambiguous.
